MOD’SPE PARIS

MOD’SPE Paris is an international fashion and business school nestled strategically in the ninth arrondissement of Paris. I spent the Fall of 2019 living and studying at MOD’SPE. My experience at MOD’SPE has helped mold me into the professional I am today and has helped me to understand the inter-workings of the fashion industry on a whole new level. In addition to taking five fashion courses taught by industry professionals, I also attended many fashion events such as trade shows and traveled to factories to witness production firsthand.

Visual Merchandising

In the Fall of 2019, I studied Fashion abroad in Paris, France where I took a course in Visual Merchandising. We studied visual merchandising strategies by observing prominent French brands. This is a mock floor plan I created after studying the Lacoste on the Champs-Élysées.

Morocco

Another component of our education was an excursion to Morocco to understand the fashion industry from a different perspective. We visited artisans crafting traditional Kaftans, as well as a fast-fashion factory. It was a culturally enlightening experience that greatly broadened my viewpoint of the world and of fashion on the whole.

Branding

In Paris, I also took a course in Branding through which we studied brands in our neighborhood to get a better understanding of multifaceted branding. For my final project, I focused on the brand A.P.C. This is a sample page from my final presentation which focuses on their marketing strategy.

Trend Forecasting

In my Trend Forecasting class, we focused on sourcing and finding trends, and trend book creation. I sourced the content for this trend story “Out West” which was part of our final group project. We ultimately completed four different trend books in order to accurately depict trends for the coming Spring 2020 season.

TEXWORLD Paris

Part of our Product Development education was an excursion to the TEXWORLD fabric trade show. We conversed with many fabric vendors in order to understand more about material sourcing and order minimums. I was able to meet people from all over the world and learn about the newest textile manipulations and technologies.

Product Development

Our Product Development class focused on product lifecycle, collection development, and sourcing. For our final project, we worked in groups to create a brand and a collection that our brand would theoretically produce. I was in charge of the collection assessment in which I determined the quantity of each item, the category breakdown, pricing, etc. This is a sample of a chart I created to illustrate our category breakdown.
